So its official: Adrienne and I have started a new website together. While it is sad to say goodbye to Style Kitty, I am so excited about the next chapter.
Let's keep in touch!

Topshop at Nordstrom

Its been weeks since I have posted, and I am sorry about that! For the last week I've been sick with some sort of bubonic-like virus. You would think that this would mean I would have been on top of blogging the 5+ looks that I've done in the last month, but really I just cuddled with my cat and re-watched every episode of Daria on Hulu Plus (She is by far my favorite fictitious feminist). Despite my absence my wardrobe seems to keep growing. I am seriously obsessed with my new digs from Topshop x Nordstrom. Here I am wearing one of their shirts and a vintage-esque skirt. I have never tried out a pencil skirt because I never trusted how it would look on my petite frame, but luckily it works well! I really love the midi length too, which is also something that I am not used to. I also present my AMAZING new sunglasses, the Tom Ford Carrie in green horn. Thanks to this fab bday gift from my boyfriend, I am officially the coolest person ever. Ok, that may be a bit of a stretch, but how damn good are these shades?! What pieces are new in your wardrobe?

Crochet Lunch Date

A year ago, when I first started blogging, taking photos was much more of a production. I would wear things that were cool and unique, but they were not necessarily functional. Lately I have realized that day-to-day fashion is all about function--why blog something you didn't actually wear on any given day? Here is a look Adrienne and I took on one of our (almost daily) lunch dates. I am actually wearing a sleep shirt over a slip as a dress. To top it off I added a belt, some cute metallic sandals with a mini-heel, and of course my standard accessories. Overall I think its funky and not generic, but still comfortable. This look definitely reflects my daily (day-off) style.

Rhyming and Styling

Just a quickie post today before I am off to work! As you can see I got my hurrr (hair) did on Saturday, and I am totally digging my new style. Its nothing drastic, but definitely needed to cut off the unhealthy ends, and give my hair an overall style. I am sooo pleased--my fave part is the blunt bang, obviously! Aside from that, not much else is new, except the fact that my stylist job with Nordstrom starts today. Eeeeek wish me luck!

Feminismz

Two posts in two days? I'm impressed with myself! At the start of the year, I was blogging almost everyday. Recently I've had to cut back (a lot) due to work. I have missed being able to get dressed up and let out my creative side. My work definitely stimulates my creativity, but over the last year I have enjoyed using my own wardrobe and body as a means of expression in a way that I never have before. As one of my muses, Madeline Pendleton, explains the photos I take are never about physical beauty. Beauty is an ideal dictated onto bodies by heteropatriarchal empire, and I consciously work to go against problematic beauty narratives. At a fundamental level, blogging is about my love for clothes. With every look I want to challenge myself artistically, create a story, and find new ways to wear what I own. I truly seek to have fun with fashion, and empower others to be passionate about what they wear.

Checkitouuuut

This is my first day off in literally forever. I am so happy to be able to just rest, bump some Die Antwoord, and do another shoot with Adrienne today.
I also have some big news...my internship with Nordstrom ends this week, however I have been promoted. I will officially be a stylist with the company in the Savvy department! I am seriously pumped. FOK IT.
